Seeing Signs from Spirit with More Clarity

One of the questions I hear more than almost any other is some version of this: "How do I know if that was really a sign, or if I am just imagining it?"
If that question lives in your mind, please know you are not alone. So many of the people I work with, whether they are grieving someone they love or simply trying to deepen their spiritual connection, struggle with this exact thing. The good news is that seeing signs more clearly is not some rare gift only a few people are born with. It is a skill. And like any skill, it grows with practice, patience, and a little bit of trust.
Here is what I tell my clients.
1. Be Open to the Wonder of What Spirit Can Do
Before anything else, there has to be room for wonder. If you walk through life assuming that everything has a purely logical explanation and nothing more, you close the door before Spirit even has a chance to knock.
I am not asking you to abandon your common sense. I am asking you to leave a little space open. A space that says, "Maybe. Maybe that song coming on at exactly the right moment meant something. Maybe that dream was more than just a dream." Wonder is not naive.
Wonder is what allows connection to come through in the first place.
2. Practice Trusting Something Outside of Yourself
So many of us have learned, often for very real and understandable reasons, to rely only on ourselves. Maybe you grew up needing to be your own safety net. Maybe life has taught you that if you want something done right, you do it yourself. That kind of self reliance can be a real strength.
But when it comes to sensing signs, it can also get in the way. Spirit communication asks us to soften that grip just a little. To trust that we are not carrying everything alone. That there is guidance, love, and support available to us from beyond what we can see and control with our own two hands.
This is often the hardest part for people, and I understand why. Trusting something outside yourself can feel vulnerable, especially if you have had to be strong for a long time. Be gentle with yourself as you practice this. It is not weakness. It is opening a door that self reliance may have kept closed.
3. Keep a Journal
This is one of the simplest tools I recommend, and it is also one of the most powerful.
Start writing down the moments that feel like signs. The repeating numbers. The song on the radio. The dream that felt different from other dreams. The sudden thought about someone that turned out to matter. Write them down as they happen, along with the date and what was going on for you at the time.
Then, and this is the important part, go back later and note when they turned out to be meaningful. When that thought was right. When that nudge led you somewhere important.
Over time, this journal becomes proof. Not proof for anyone else, but proof for you. It becomes a record that shows your intuition is not random. It is building a case, entry by entry, that you can trust the signs you are receiving. That trust does not come from me telling you to believe. It comes from you seeing the pattern with your own eyes.
4. Spirit Waits for You to Be Ready to Receive
Think about a friend who used to give you the same piece of advice over and over, until eventually they stopped bringing it up. Not because they stopped caring, but because they could tell you were not ready to hear it yet.
The spirit world works in a similar way. Sometimes the signs feel quiet, or absent altogether, and it is not because your loved ones or your guides have gone away. It is often because they are waiting for you to be in a place where you can actually receive what they are offering.
Grief, stress, fear, and distraction can all make it harder for us to notice what is right in front of us.
If you feel like the signs have gone quiet, try not to panic or assume the connection is lost.
Instead, get curious about your own openness. Are you giving yourself moments of stillness? Are you allowing space for wonder and trust, the way we talked about above? Sometimes reconnecting with the signs is less about Spirit changing, and more about us creating the conditions to notice them again.
A Gentle Reminder
Seeing signs with clarity is not about perfection. You will not get it right every time, and that is completely okay. Some days the signs will feel obvious and undeniable. Other days they will feel quiet, and you will wonder if you are just hoping too hard.
Be patient with yourself in this process. Keep your journal. Practice trusting. Stay open to wonder. And know that even in the quiet moments, the connection is still there, waiting for the moment you are ready to receive it.
If you're ready to get some help recognizing the signs, I'd be happy to give you a hand!
