Why I Won't Tell You What To Do (Even When That's What You Want)

A woman came to see me recently, hoping to get clarity on her career. She wanted to know what her next move should be. Should she stay where she is? Should she leave? Should she pivot entirely? She wanted an answer, something clear and specific she could act on right away.
That is not what came through.
Instead, so much of the reading pointed toward inner healing and inner work. The message was clear that once she did that work, clarity would follow naturally. But she kept holding onto the same question underneath it all. "Okay, but what do I actually do?"
I understand that response completely. When you are standing at a crossroads in your life, wanting to reflect and heal can feel like a frustrating answer when what you really want is a decision. So I told her something I say often, and something I believe deeply.
I am not going to tell you what to do.
Why I Won't Make the Decision For You
If I told her exactly what to do, that decision would be coming from me. Not from her. And I am not the one who has to live her life. She is.
My role in a reading is not to hand someone a script for their future. It is to help them access their own inner knowing, so the decisions they make actually belong to them. A choice made from someone else's certainty rarely holds up the way a choice made from your own clarity does. Even if I could tell her exactly what path to take, it would not carry the same strength as a decision she arrived at herself.
Why the Spirit World Was Asking Her to Reflect
The spirit world was not withholding an answer to be difficult. It was asking her to reflect because, without that reflection, she would not have been able to move forward with real intention and confidence.
So often, when we feel stuck in our careers or any major area of life, the stuck feeling is not actually about the external decision. It is about internal patterns. Old beliefs. Situations we have outgrown but have not fully released. Ways of thinking that keep us feeling disempowered, even when we cannot quite name why.
The spirit world wanted her to grow, mentally and emotionally, before the next step revealed itself. That growth meant letting go of ideas, patterns, and situations that were keeping her small. It is much harder to walk confidently into a new chapter while still holding tightly to the weight of the old one.
Clarity Comes After the Work, Not Instead of It
I know this is not always the message people want to hear. It would be so much easier if I could hand someone a clear answer and send them on their way. But real, lasting clarity does not usually work that way.
Once we do the inner work, once we release what no longer serves us and heal the parts of ourselves that have been holding us back, the next step tends to become obvious. Not because someone else pointed at it, but because we can finally see it clearly for ourselves.
If you are standing at a crossroads right now, wanting someone to just tell you what to do, I understand that desire completely. But I would rather help you build the clarity and confidence to choose your own path than hand you an answer that was never really mine to give.
Your path is yours. My job is to help you see it more clearly, not to walk it for you.
